Charting: If I turn my chart upside down, I might see a pregnancy signYes, I have analyzed just about every chart in every way possible when trying for a baby. Some lucky women have signs of implant on their charts. I am not one of those. I studied my charts for lots of time, searching for some sign. Each of my charts was different, with different ovulation dates and different luteal phase patterns. Sometimes I would have higher temps than others. There were never signs like a triphasic chart or implant dip or ovulation spotting. I just am one of the majority that just had to wait it out till the end of the cycle to see if menses came or not. There are a few signs we might see, but none of these are definite, for sure pregnancy signs. Some lucky women get these signs and can be hopeful these may turn into pregnancy signs. Sometimes, they do occur in a non-pregnancy chart. First, there's implant spotting. This sign is a fairly rare and ambiguous sign. It will be a brief one day bit of spotting that can be lighter or heavier around implant time (7-10 days past ovulation). Luteal phase spotting can happen for a variety of reasons. We do recommend you report all unexplained luteal phase spotting/bleeding to your healthcare provider as they can help you find why you're spotting/bleeding. In this link, you will find a FAQ on Luteal Phase spotting. Then, we have the implant dip. This is a one day dip in temps at implant time (7-10 days past ovulation). It occurs sometimes but is no guarantee of pregnancy. Sometimes a dip in temps is just a temp fluctuation. Sometimes a dip is implantation. Unfortunately, there’s no way to be sure till we get that positive test. There is more information about the implant dip in this link. Finally, we have a sign called a triphasic chart. This is when you have a sustained third shift in temps after 7-10 days past ovulation. This is a really good sign in a chart, but again can occur in a non-pregnancy chart as well. To learn more about the triphasic chart, check out this link. If Fertility Friend detects these signs, you’ll find them in the Pregnancy Monitor that appears at the bottom of the charting page after ovulation occurs. You might be like me and not show even one tiny inkling of a pregnancy sign. The most important thing in a pregnancy chart? Good intercourse timing around ovulation! As a final note, if you haven't discovered this already, we have a portion of the handbook dedicated to pregnancy patterns. |

My temperature has dipped below the coverline during the luteal phase. Does this mean I didn't really ovulate? Could I still be pregnant?
